Yasmin Ballew - SHS

Yasmin Ballew

Sierra High School

Yasmin Ballew is a senior at Sierra High School.  She has participated in leadership for the past three years, as Community Service Commissioner, ASB Secretary, and finally ASB President.  Yasmin has had to work closely with administrators, community members, and the student body.  What makes Yasmin a successful ASB President is her passion to find ways to incorporate the students’ voices in order for them to be heard.  Yasmin has also been an active participant in the Sierra High School KIWIN’s community service club where she served as both President and Vice President.  Yasmin works hard to take on the challenges and responsibilities of a student leader.

Yasmin has been recognized for her outstanding academics and character.  She has participated in varsity soccer all four years of high school and also travels with her competitive soccer team.  She has maintained a 4.2 grade point average while taking Honors and Advanced Placement courses in the areas of English, Science, History, and Math.  Yasmin is also a California Scholarship Federation and National Honor Society student.  She has also been recognized for her academic achievement through the Sierra High School LOBO Gold Academic Achievement Program earning LOBO gold and serving as President of the LOBO Gold Committee her junior year.

Outside the classroom, Yasmin has actively volunteered and participated in several community organizations including the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program which seeks to raise the capacity of youth to take charge their own spiritual, social, and intellectual development through service to the community.  Yasmin has found her passion in animal rescue and works to rehabilitate and re-home stray cats and kittens, while also volunteering at a local Spay and Neuter Clinic.  She also spends time as a Junior Volunteer at Doctors Hospital of Manteca serving patients.  Finally, Yasmin has volunteered her time at Escaton Manteca Manor Senior Living and has helped with Flags Over Manteca.
