These classes are open to the public, but are organized primarily for senior citizens. The Arts Ceramics Lessons in cleaning, painting, and grazing ceramic objects purchased by students. Paints and glazes are furnished. Firing restricted to items done in class only. Limited firing. Folk Guitar Students will learn the basic fundamentals of guitar playing with a concentration in traditional folk song and easy-listening music. Music is provided by the instructor. Student supplies own guitar. Classical Guitar Learn how to read music and play the classical
(nylon-stringed) guitar. Students precision techniques to
making beautiful music as a solo
Quilting for Seniors A beginning level class for older adults. Topics covered will be hard and machine piecing, color selection, and finished techniques. A class project will cover basic techniques of quilting. Physical Fitness Physical Fitness for Older Adults An exercise program designed to improve and maintain muscle and bone strength. The workout includes modified aerobics to warm up the body followed by a half hour of resistance training and exercise. Stretching and cool down complete the class.
Physical Fitness Yoga combines gentle physical exercise with breathing techniques to gradually strengthen the body, improve concentration, increase agility and balance, experience body relaxation, and enhance awareness of your natural well-being. Bring a mat and blanket to class.
Understanding and Using Technology This course is an introduction to the world of computers. We will be using the Windows XP Operating System with an IBM Compatible computer. We will learn the basic computer terms, concepts, and also become comfortable with all the equipment normally connected to a computer. The class is designed for the senior citizen, and everyone will be able to work at their own pace.
