MANTECA HIGH SCHOOL ART MUSEUM

The Manteca High School mural project was envisioned and set in motion in 1996, by art instructor Kirt Giovannoni, to revitalize the educational environment for students, teachers, administrators, parents, and the public, and to be a visible substitute icon for destructive graffiti.  As January 2007, Manteca High School art students have completed 144 murals, each measuring 7 feet by 8 feet, and depicts a famous piece of artwork throughout history.

The expected outcome of the mural project each year is for student artists to learn, and to appreciate many of the world famous masterpieces through a hands-on approach.  Most importantly, the mural establishes a sense of permanence and a social voice in each of their lives.

A book about the Manteca High Mural Museum--called "American Profile, Hometown Heros" can be found at "American Profile.com."
