A vital part of every student's education at Manteca High School is the school-wide Study Skills Program. The purpose of this program is to prepare students for higher education and the world of work through the acquisition of skills which ensure success:

• Organization/Time Management
• Reading
• Listening
• Memory
• Vocabulary Building
• Test Taking
• Note Taking

Every teacher at Manteca High is trained to use strategies which incorporate the teaching these skills in all subject areas.

The most visible of these strategies involves Organization/Time Management Skills. All teachers post assignments on large wall calendars in their classrooms. Students are provided with daily planners on which they must record assignments, test dates, project due dates, and other important dates. Students keep these daily planners along with other materials necessary for their academic success in their Study Skills Binder. Every student must maintain a complete Study Skills Binder and bring it to class each day. Compliance with this aspect of the program is graded and can account for as much as 15% of a student's class grade.

Every student at Manteca High School needs the following materials for a successful academic year:
 

• 2" to 3" three-ring binder
• lined binder paper
• index dividers for each class
• plastic zipper pouch
• black or blue ink pen
• 2 pencils
