Work Permits
California State law permits minors 12 years
of age and older to work but subject to certain restrictions. Only those
16 and older may work during the time school is in session. In no case,
with the exception of farm and domestic jobs, may work plus school occupy
you for more than 8 hours in one day nor more than 40 hoursinone week.
If under 18 years of age and you wish to work. YOU MUST OBTAIN A WORK PERMIT
REQUEST FROM THE CAREER CENTER. Your prospective employer is to fill it out
and your parents are to sign it. Return this permit request form to the
career center and you will then be issued a regular work permit. All work
permits expire six days after school starts in August thus making it necessary
to obtain NEW WORK PERMITS at the beginning of each school year. Work
permits are issued by the District Office during the summer. Work permits
are always "employer specific" and can only be used by the employer who
has signed the work permit. |
