Coach Mark Ruiz was born and raised in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School in 2005. Mark went on to play baseball at San Joaquin Delta College and Division II Alderson Broaddus University in West Virginia, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management. After graduating, Mark returned to California and started his coaching career as an assistant and infield coach for San Joaquin Delta College in 2010. During the 2011 season, the Delta Mustangs won the California state championship. Mark continued his collegiate coaching career at NCAA DII Fairmont State University. During this time, he completed his Master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Management. Mark returned to his assistant/infield coaching role at SJ Delta college from 2012-2015, helping lead the mustangs to the elite 8 or final four each year. During this time he was the a head coach for Club All Star travel ball team. After taking a break from coaching, Mark returned to his alma mater as an assistant coach in 2018. Mark accepted a teaching position and head coach position at Manteca High in 2019. The 2019 season started out with great potential for the Buffaloes, but was unfortunately cut short due to COVID. Mark is excited and has high expectations entering his second season.
Mark is extremely excited to get to work and help lead the Buffaloes to success in both the classroom and on the baseball field. Mark resides in Manteca with his wife, Nicole and their two children, Alexa (4), and Roman (7 months).
