This plan details how we will handle social distancing at lunch, for drills, restroom procedures, sanitation of classrooms, etc. as we begin small cohort support of in-person instruction at East Union High School.
How Is School Going to Work
Thank you for your continued patience as we work diligently to start the school year! We are doing everything possible to safely educate all students at a high level during these tumultuous times. Our goal is to offer as many of the same services and high-quality education that you have come to know and expect from East Union High School.
Here are some updates regarding the 2020-21 school year:
As you know, we will begin the year on a distance learning model. Please check the MUSD Return to School website regularly for updates regarding the detailed plan for the many changes taking place. We will continue to follow all board, county, and state direction with regards to students returning to campus. Much of the information contained in this communication is taken from this site. We will highlight a few key things to know as we prepare to start school.
The school day has changed in accordance with Senate Bill 328. The new bell schedule for the 2020-21 school year is on our bell Schedule page. Please understand that this is NOT a flexible schedule.
Students MUST attend their scheduled Teams meetings on time during the first 20 minutes of the learning period, and rejoin the virtual meeting during the last 20 minutes for a live check in or they will be marked absent.
Many teachers may require students to have their cameras turned on. It is recommended that students work in a quiet environment and are dressed appropriately for school. Sitting upright at a desk or table is also recommended if possible.
During distance learning, you can expect daily, live instruction from all teachers. Teachers will be in contact soon with each individual class.
Campus is not closed
We are here to support students and families! Processes and procedures will be slightly modified to ensure safety for students, staff, and families. Specific information is included below with regards to modified processes.
All visitors entering the school buildings will be required to observe all social distancing guidelines, complete a self-screening form, wear a face covering, and sign-in on a contact tracing form disclosing the date of the visit, name, and best contact information. We will still encourage visitors to make an appointment prior to arriving at a site or office to help reduce the amount of people on campus at any given time.
At this time, the California Interscholastic Federation has moved the athletic calendar to begin in December 2020. Per local guidelines, students are permitted to continue meeting with coaches in small cohorts. Other extracurricular activities are still being modified to ensure student safety.
