• Meet Our Principal

    Dr. Michael Cowan, Ed.D.

    Michael attended both Shasta and Sequoia Elementary Schools before graduating from East Union High School. Michael received his associate degree from San Joaquin Delta College before transferring to California State University, Bakersfield where he graduated with a degree in English. Later, he attended the University of the Pacific where he earned both his master’s degree in Educational Administration and a doctorate in Educational Administration and Leadership.

    When he began his teaching career, Michael came back to Manteca Unified School District. He taught 7th and 8th grade at Golden West and this English at his alma mater, East Union. He then returned to Golden West as a program coordinator. He served as vice principal at Golden West, August Knodt, and Veritas Elementary before becoming Veritas’ Principal.

    Michael was raised in Manteca and has strong ties to the community where he grew up. He enjoys helping the Veritas community explore the agricultural roots of the area. At Veritas Elementary, he leads the drive to create lifelong learners and his goal is for every student to find joy in learning.

    Having traveled to over 20 countries, Michael’s passion is traveling, exploring different cultures, and hearing different languages. He also enjoys spending time with his family and his dogs.
