Extended Learning Opportunities Program
-
We are excited to announce Phase 1 of our Expanded Learning Opportunities Program, or E.L.O.P. as yet another way to supplement learning outside of the classroom. “Expanded Learning” means before school, after school or intersession learning programs that focus on developing the academic, social, emotional and physical needs and interest of students through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. Expanded Learning programs are to be student-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement but not replicate learning activities in the regular school day.
Each school site in Manteca Unified School District will be able to provide access to an Expanded Learning Opportunity (ELOP) program and parents are able to choose if this opportunity aligns with their family needs or preferences. Students participating in an Expanded Learning Opportunity program will have the opportunity to have a 9-hour day, in a safe environment that includes academic enrichment that provides hands-on learning activities that can expand the horizons of our students by taking them beyond their current experiences. Activities that expand horizons also allow youth to learn new things and discover new opportunities. Programs include Before and/or After school opportunities to provide a 9-hour day for participating students and are free of charge to parents who partner with us in this endeavor.
Our goal is to create learning experiences that tap into a child’s natural curiosity and interests in discovery while motivating their eagerness to try new activities. We are currently in the process of surveying students, families, and staff to gauge interest in different types of programming!

Audrey Parker, Coordinator of Extended Learning
Mrs. Parker's entire teaching and administrative career has taken place at MUSD schools, beginning at Great Valley Elementary where she spent nine years before transitioning to serve as a vice principal at various sites including Brock Elliott, Joshua Cowell, French Camp and Shasta.
As she leaves the principalship at Shasta, a role she considers to be the greatest professional honor of her life, she is grateful for all of the lessons learned and skills earned to apply them toward the next chapter of her career.
"I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with students and families via the ELO-P, a program that focuses on the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of students through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. I relish the opportunity at this time in my career to work with a pupil-centered, results driven program in conjunction with our community partners that complements the high-quality learning activities that our MUSD teachers and staff make possible during the instructional day and the school year.”
