  •  WHAT DOES A COUNSELOR DO?

    - Helps students adjust to high school
    - Identifies the needs of students
    - Helps students to explore options and alternatives
    - Counsels with students individually and in groups
    - Counsels students regarding school, college, job/career, and personal plans
    - Helps students relate to others
    - Assists teachers and parents in helping students along their educational career path
    - Works with potential dropouts
    - Uses tests to provide information about abilities, achievement, interests and needs
    - Coordinates efforts with other school specialists
    - Coordinates tutoring program
    - Supports peer counseling program
    - Refers for Special Education
    - Refers to community resources
    - Assists with student attendance problems
    - Assists in child abuse identification: reporting and referrals
    - Provides financial aid and scholarship assistance/workshops
    - Assists with testing - PSAT, SAT, ACT
    - Acts as a school contact between home and school

    HOW DOES A STUDENT SEE THE COUNSELOR?

    Student's can drop in at lunch/before school/after school (if counselor is available)
    Student's can request to see their counselor by filling out the Student Request form located in the counseling center. 
    Appointment by counselor
    Teacher, administrator, staff referral, or by parent request.

    HOW DOES A PARENT OR GUARDIAN SEE THE COUNSELOR?

    Parents/guardians are encouraged to e-mail the counselors or call the Counseling Secretary Tiffany Enes @ 209-858-7410 x 54328
