• Manteca Unified School District COVID-19 Safety Plan

Message from Dr. Clark Burke, Superintendent

In Manteca Unified School District (MUSD), every student works to achieve grade level standards, feels safe and is supported to realize individual success. As we continue to navigate the worldwide health crisis, we remain steadfast in this vision and promise to center all decision making around student need.

We are excited to welcome all students back to school on August 4, 2021, in a full-time and in-person learning environment. Our COVID-19 Safety Plan has been updated for the 2021-22 school year following current guidance and mandates from state and local health officials. Last year, our accomplishments collectively were monumental as MUSD was one of the first few districts to pave the way to safe and meaningful in-person learning. Our staff, students, and community unified to devote immense efforts to mitigate the virus and educate the children in our community. I am very proud of our work, together in partnership with our families.

As we return to school, we want you to know the district is continuing to provide safety mitigation measures for the safety of students and staff.. While we continue to implement our most effective health and safety practices from last year, this new school year, we are excited to look ahead. The surest path to students meeting grade level standards and becoming college and/or career ready begins in the classroom

This plan takes into account several key considerations such as recent evidence indicating in-person instruction can occur safely with no physical distancing requirement when other mitigation strategies are fully implemented. As such, universal masking in schools, daily self-screening surveys, classroom ventilation, daily sanitizing and more targeted quarantine practices will support full-time and in-person instruction and minimize missed days of school on an ongoing basis as the priority.

Schools are the best and safest place for students to learn, succeed and thrive. Your teachers, administrators, and support staff have planned and prepared for your return. Your Board of Education, District executive leaders, and myself have allocated more academic resources and layers of support for your classroom. We are ready, and we hope you are, too.

With commitment to our students, our community, and our future.
