New schools coming soon to Manteca Unified!

Manteca Unified School District is excited to announce that we are designing three new schools!

As previously announced, MUSD is in the design phase of building three brand-new TK-8 elementary schools—two in Manteca, south of Highway 120, and another in Lathrop. Find the latest updates on this webpage.

The design of three new schools was proposed in the spring of 2023 in response to future projections of increasing enrollment in Manteca (south of 120) and Lathrop regions. The design phase for these schools is still in progress, and details are continuously being developed.

Over the next three years, the planning process will continue to evolve based on Board direction, with consideration of current demographics and grade-level needs, and construction contracts will be phased in as conditions continue to warrant evaluation of this option.

MUSD is excited to share our vision for these new schools, a vision that blends innovation, sustainability, and community. Each campus will feature 37 modern classrooms, expanded early childhood education spaces, dedicated areas for music education, learning commons designed for student collaboration and flexible use, and a fully equipped library. To support every learner, we are also including specialized educational support spaces and thoughtfully designed service areas for staff and students.

Beyond the classroom, students will enjoy green schoolyards, inclusive playgrounds, and inviting outdoor learning environments that encourage exploration and creativity. Safety and accessibility remain at the heart of our design with secure fencing, monitored fire alarm systems, safe routes to school alignment, and a dedicated student drop-off zone for convenience and peace of mind.

Sustainability is a cornerstone of this project. These schools will incorporate solar energy systems, energy-efficient construction, and battery storage systems to strategically right-size campus infrastructure. We are also planning for EV charging stations within the design. Combined with cutting-edge technology and flexible furniture, these campuses will be environmentally responsible and future-ready.

As progress continues, we look forward to sharing more updates and bringing this vision to life for our students and community. Stay tuned for the latest news.

About Increasing Enrollment Trends

Each year, MUSD continues to assess enrollment trends throughout the District and evaluate mitigation tools that may be needed to best support schools experiencing significant shifts in enrollment. While some regions are experiencing increasing enrollment, others are experiencing declining enrollment. Both scenarios require forward-thinking and strategic planning to best serve students, maximize existing resources, and maintain program capacity.

As we track enrollment trends and explore tools to support our schools, delivering high-quality education remains our top priority.
