New schools coming soon to Manteca Unified!
Manteca Unified School District is excited to announce that we are building two new schools!
Manteca Unified School District is thrilled to share some exciting news: we’re building two brand-new TK-8 elementary schools—one in Manteca, south of Highway 120, and the other in Lathrop!
These schools were initially announced as Early Education Centers to accommodate the expected increase in young learners due to the state’s new universal transitional kindergarten program (AB 130). This new program makes transitional kindergarten a required grade level for all 4-year-olds by the 2025-26 school year. In response to the state’s new program, Manteca Unified developed a 5-year implementation plan, including a proposal for two Early Education Centers (EECs) to accommodate the influx of young learners and meet state requirements for early learning programming. In January 2023, MUSD’s Board of Education approved the Early Education Center project proposal, which was announced initially in February 2023!
Importantly, these two Early Education Centers were planned as part of a multi-phased project with the potential to expand as full TK-8 elementary schools if needed. The District shifted gears to develop design plans sooner for the expansion of these campuses. This decision addresses the needs of our expanding student population and is supported by potential changes in state facilities funding that could enhance our pursuit of new school construction funding opportunties.
Over the next three to five years, the design process will continue to evolve based on Board direction and current demographic analysis and grade-level needs. The early childhood program model will continue to take priority as we expand the campus to include continuing grade levels.
We can’t wait to update you on our progress. Exciting times are ahead for our community—stay tuned for more news!
