Communication Procedures

Communication Methods

MUSD’s first priority is student and staff safety. We use many communication tools to ensure we’re reaching as many as possible, especially in a time of true emergency.

We want to maintain transparent communication and information with you and understand this need in a time of urgency. If there was ever an imminent threat to your child, District leaders, law enforcement, and emergency response professionals would take immediate and necessary precautions or responses. We will make every effort to communicate information appropriately to retain this trust, while not compromising the efficiency of emergency response on campus. Below is a quick reference guide on when, where, and how you should expect communication from MUSD as well as your child(ren)’s school.

Blackboard

Blackboard is the system used for mass communication via phone, email, text, and app notification. In an emergency, this system will alert you to urgent information. Phone calls are used to notify you of child absences. Typically, schools will use email, text, and app notifications to keep you informed of school news.

Ensure your child(ren)’s school has your current contact information for systems to contact you. If you previously unsubscribed from Blackboard notifications, follow these steps to resubscribe:

  • Phone calls: Call 855-502-7867 from the phone that opted out.
  • Texts: Text START to 60680 from the phone that opted out for non emergency messages; text START to 54968 for emergency messages.
  • Email: Contact the school site to opt back in.
