Aligning Vision to Action in MUSD
Manteca Unified School District’s Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) for 2024-2027 serves as the district’s strategic blueprint, designed to align with the board-directed Vision and Mission. This comprehensive plan is pivotal in guiding the district’s efforts to enhance educational outcomes and foster a supportive learning environment for all students.
At the heart of the LCAP are three fundamental targets: ensuring students meet grade-level standards, creating a safe and secure environment for students, and supporting emerging students along their individual paths to success. As the cornerstone of every action taken and every dollar spent within the district, these targets are embedded in the plan as goals, with the supporting actions and services necessary outlined underneath.
One of the distinguishing features of Manteca Unified’s LCAP is its holistic approach to funding. Unlike traditional plans that may focus solely on supplemental dollars directed towards specific disadvantaged groups, MUSD integrates available funding sources into the LCAP. These sources include the general fund, LCFF supplemental dollars, special education funding, and Proposition 28 funding among others. This inclusive strategy ensures that every financial resource is leveraged to support the district’s goals, providing a robust foundation for sustained educational excellence. Put simply, this plan is fully aligned to MUSD’s budget and accounts for every dollar spent.
Written on a three-year cycle, with annual reviews and approvals to ensure its continued relevance and effectiveness, the development and ongoing refinement of the LCAP is a dynamic process involving extensive data analysis and community input.
School sites and district departments monitor their progress in achieving their written goals and use data to make the appropriate refinements. The district employs a multifaceted approach to gather input from various educational partners, including parents, students, staff, and community members. Multiple feedback opportunities are provided to ensure that all voices are heard, and district-scheduled meetings offer a platform for in-depth discussions and collaborative decision-making.
This refinement process of evaluation and feedback is crucial in shaping the LCAP, making it a living document that evolves in response to the needs of the students and priorities of the community. “By ensuring complete alignment between the district’s vision, budget, and LCAP, Manteca Unified maintains a strategic approach that drives the district’s efforts to create a safe, supportive, and high-achieving educational environment for all students,” shared Dr. Lisa Herrin, Director of Strategic Alignment & Accountability.
