MUSD Students Receive National Recognition!

Manteca Unified is committed to supporting students to realize individual success. Earlier this month, students from two MUSD high schools received national recognition! Discover below how MUSD students are making their mark on a national stage.

East Union High School's JROTC Academic team placed among the top 32 Army JROTC Academic teams in the nation and has secured a spot in the National Academic Bowl Championship in Washington, DC. This is the second time EUHS’s JROTC team has qualified for the National Academic Bowl since 2020.

Here’s what the cadets had to say about their accomplishment:

“I am so grateful that I have teammates who are dedicated enough to practice hard enough to gain results. Our practice has not ended yet though, we are still going to practice our hardest to make sure the East Union Lancer Battalion is a name to remember on the national stage!” – Brian Aluy, Team Captain, 11th Grade

“I am super excited that we get to go to Washington DC to compete, especially since all of us on the team are good friends and that’s all without mentioning how good this’ll look on a college application!” – Alexander Huffman, 11th Grade

“As we continue to study and expand our knowledge, we acknowledge that our work is far from over. Our goal at the Nationals is not just to compete but to win, showcasing our dedication, intelligence, and passion for academic excellence as we represent East Union High School.” – Simreet Gill, 11th Grade

“After last year’s disappointing results, where we didn’t qualify to pass the first round, we settled in and studied hard for this year. Our hard work with months and months of practice finally paid off when we scored the highest score in our region and were chosen for Nationals.” – Nihar Jain, 10th Grade

Weston Ranch High’s Robotics team, Ranch Robotics, is also rocketing to new heights, as students recently competed in a Drone tournament in Newark, CA, and earned 1st place in the skills competition! They currently hold 6th place in the World standings.

The Ranch Robotics team is planning a fundraiser for their next competition trip! For more details or to donate, contact Weston Ranch High's school office.

Here’s what the students had to say about their achievement:

“As a team, we have grown and gained experience in ways we had never imagined, and to see that our efforts have been paying off is truly amazing. Now, going into nationals, I can say that we are more than excited and confident to go out and compete with some of the best teams in the country.”  – Diego Zamora, Club President, 12th Grade

“I feel great about being able to participate in an event that happens once in a lifetime for some people so hopefully we can all give it everything we got.” – Jesus Navarro, 12th Grade

“People only see the results, not the hard work and dedication that has been put towards working for it. Overall it's been stressful but exhilarating at the same time.” – Edmond Cheng, 12th Grade

“My robotics team is experiencing robotics on a national level, and that feeling is beyond describable.” – Ashlynn Urteaga, 10th Grade

“I feel like we have a lot of work ahead of us, but our skills have improved substantially since the start.” – Eidress Adel, 11th Grade

“Our hard work paid off and now I feel very excited for the upcoming competition and the challenges that come with it.” – Sahibpreet Singh, 11th Grade
