MTSS for Emerging Students

The Department of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support for Emerging Students plays a vital role in enhancing the educational experience for our students. Its primary responsibility is to develop and maintain a diverse range of student programs designed to identify and address the unique needs of our student body. This entails the implementation of comprehensive educational initiatives across various subjects and curriculum areas, ensuring that emerging students receive targeted support.

What are Multi-Tiered Systems of Support?

Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports, or MTSS, is a framework designed to help students (TK-12) achieve their best academic and social-emotional outcomes. MTSS models include tiers, or levels, of instructional and other support, so that all students can progress through education that meets their needs.

The three tiers of support are Inclusive Instruction, Strategic Intervention, and Intensive Intervention. The visual below exemplifies how these supports are applied and lists some support systems represented across every tier.

Manteca Unified applies MTSS strategies across various departments to ensure we meet every student where they are in all environments, be it in their everyday classroom, a career setting, an emerging setting, or through any of our student services.

Lisa Goodwin, Director of MTSS for Emerging Students

A photo of lisa goodwin Mrs. Goodwin has served as an educator in Manteca Unified School District since 1991.  Her 20 years in the classroom in grades Kindergarten, K/1, 4th grade and 6-8th grades, serving Lathrop, August Knodt, Joshua Cowell and Woodward schools have provided a deep knowledge base regarding the learning environment and the needs of students and teachers.  Mrs. Goodwin served as MUSD Induction Coordinator for 4 years ushering and supporting new educators into the profession and a site administrator for 5 years at Great Valley Elementary School in service to this community.
