College Placement Tests

Please note that the University of California (UC) and the California State University (CSU) systems no longer require SAT and ACT scores for admission. If you choose to take the ACT or SAT tests, you may still report your scores for consideration in course placement. For further information, please reach out to your prospective college.

SAT

The SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is used by many colleges and universities to consider a prospective student during the admissions process based on their exam score. The SAT is a multiple choice test with an optional essay response administered by the College Board. Learn more here.

ACT

The ACT (American College Testing) is a college entrance exam used by college admissions committees to help gauge a student’s readiness for college-level material, and some many colleges and universities to consider a prospective student during the admissions process. The test contains multiple-choice tests in four areas: English, mathematics, reading and science. ACT's writing test is optional and will not affect your composite score. Learn more here.
