Fafsa & CA Dream Act Application Windows Open Now!

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act Application windows are now open! While both applications determine financial aid, these are two different applications intended for specific students. All seniors are encouraged to submit an application, even if they are unsure about their plans after high school! For support students and families should contact their high school counselor.

Which Application Should You Fill Out?

FAFSA

12th grade students who may pursue an educational or technical program after high school. This includes students who are considering applying to universities, state colleges, community colleges, and trade schools, among others. 11th grade students are also encouraged to apply if pursuing early higher education opportunities. To get started, visit: studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa

CA Dream Act

12th grade students who are not eligible to submit a FAFSA because they are not a United States citizen, U.S. National or lawful permanent resident. This includes undocumented residents and students without social security numbers. 11th grade students are also encouraged to apply if pursuing early higher education opportunities. To get started, visit: dream.csac.ca.gov

The California application window will close on March 2, 2023, but the sooner you apply, the more funding you may receive!

Students should NOT use their MUSD student email when submitting an application. For assistance setting up a personal email account (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) please contact your school counselor.

AB469 allows for students to complete an Opt-Out form should they not plan to seek financial aid. Please return completed form to high school counselor. Form located here.
